David Nicholson 1843...

David Nicholson 1843 (50.0%):
David Nicholson is a bourbon brand owned by Lux Row Distillers. Although their distillery is already up and running in Bardstown, Kentucky they still outsource the whiskey needed for their brands while their own stocks are aging in the warehouses. Since we know that this particular bottling is a wheated bourbon and sourced from Heaven Hill Distillery it is pretty safe to assume that the mash bill is the same that Heaven Hill uses for their own wheated bourbon brands like Larceny and Old Fitzgerald which is 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley.

Color: Medium amber, polished penny color with quick but oily legs around the glass.

Nose: Dry roasted peanuts, orange blossom honey and lightly toasted oak. Nutmeg, cinnamon and tobacco. Wooden cigar box and ginger molasses cookies.

Palate: Walnuts, sun dried plums and creme de cassis. Pecan pie, salted butter and cloves. Quite spicy: Cinnamon, ground ginger and allspice. Red pepper flakes and dark Muscovado sugar.

Finish: Long with red pepper, peanut butter and plum paste.

Overall: Well, this can be easily one of the best deals for bourbon out there... Did I really pay only 27 bucks for this..? I cannot imagine any reason a bourbon lover not liking this bottle. It's incredibly easy to drink, damn tasty and a hell of a bargain. It handles ice amazingly well which makes it an excellent summer afternoon sipper and makes a great old fashioned. Cannot recommended enough..!

Price: $27
