Unfortunately this time my visit to
Woodstock was not even a full day. I didn't have time to hike, stroll around or visit off the track favorite spots... We were there for the
Woodstock Film Festival and I let myself go with the flow. We arrived the city on Saturday just before noon. I attended our friend's screening afternoon and enjoyed to be a part of the Festival crowd on the streets of Woodstock for the rest of the day. Before we left on Sunday morning it's been decided to have a nice breakfast all together at Sweet Sue's. For any reason if you find yourself in or close to
Ulster County, NY looking for a breakfast place this is the restaurant you want to be in. Totally worth the short drive if you have to. Sweet Sue's is located on the Main Street of the little town
Phoenicia, twenty minutes away from Woodstock.
I consider myself a french toast enthusiast and devotee but I have to admit this menu left me speechless... Walnut or Pecan Crunch French Toast, Pecan Coconut Banana Bread French Toast, Chocolate Chip Pancakes... Come on..! I realized that I was drooling on the table after my friend started elbowing me pretty hard. The servings are huge and delicious, the local maple syrup is awesome and the coffee was so satisfying. It is guaranteed that you won't feel any hunger in 24 hrs. after you leave this pancake mecca.
I am so glad that everybody could manage to sacrifice some valuable sleep time during the crazy tempo of the Film Festival to meet that early on a Sunday morning at Sweet Sue's and spent a couple of amazing and tasty hours all together. Fall is the most beautiful season in Upstate New York. These days leaves started to turn to every possible color between pale yellow and deep red. It will be a sight to cry for in a few weeks. I strongly recommend to spend a weekend around here in coming months if you are living nearby. I have plans to be back pretty soon...
