L'Encantada Domaine Lous Pibous 1993 24yo...

L'Encantada Domaine Lous Pibous 1993 24yo Single Cask #13 (53.6%): Sample pick of today is another L'Encantada single cask Armagnac this time it is 24 years old, distilled by Domaine Lous Pibous in 1993 from 100% Folle Blanche grapes and bottled in 2017.

Color: Dark almost red amber color with fat and slow moving legs.

Nose: Tung oil, old hardwood furniture and basement mold. Cinnamon sugar, Myer's rum and burnt caramel. It noses alarmingly very sweet... Black currant jam and dark molasses.

Palate: Yep, that's what I was afraid of. It is oozing sweet... Molasses, blackberry jam and burnt sugar. It's so jammy and sweet I cannot pull any other notes now. Maybe some ground cloves and cinnamon but that's about it.

Finish: Medium long with mostly burnt sugar and molasses. It was so sweet it left my mouth sticky... I really need some water to cleanse.

Overall: I'm sure that there are some brandy lovers with a big sweet tooth out there who would love this cask but it's definitely not for me... I am lucky that I don't have to taste anything after this. It's jammy, sticky and it had nothing to offer other than burnt caramel and dark molasses. Unfortunately this cask is a hard pass for me...
