Darroze Domaine de Martin 1994...

Darroze Domaine de Martin 1994 (48.5%): Day 3: This Darroze is from Domaine de Martin and distilled in 1994. Domaine de Martin uses Baco, Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche grapes. The owner Guy Deyres is an old timer in the region and he is also the father of Jean-Luc Deyres who is the current owner of Domaine de Rieston.

Color: Medium amber, light copper color with pretty oily but fast legs.

Nose: Grape jelly, overripe Black Mission figs and brown sugar. Molasses, Boylan black cherry soda and dried strawberries. This is a seriously enjoyable nose. Loving it...

Palate: Tart, woody, creamy and sweet... Kriek lambic beer, heavily toasted wood and burnt sugar. Salted caramel brittles, sour cherry juice and rooibos tea. Pomegranate molasses and balsamic vinegar.

Finish: Long with dried cherries, strawberry jam and red pepper flakes.

Overall: I enjoyed this one the most between the three vintages I tasted so far. The tartness and all kind of red fruits imaginable mixed with sweet and woody notes works perfect. A domaine to keep an eye for future for sure...
